Having no prior experience (apart from jumping a few kerbs when I was a kid), it was decided we would hire bikes and Casey (our instructor) for an afternoon of fun. Casey was fantastic - he provided heaps of information and demonstrations that I was easily able to use to improve my skills. I was definitely riding better at the end. The trails were amazing, some beautiful scenery, and a gorgeous view out over Rotorua at one point. The bikes were great, Casey was awesome and the hot chocolate when we got back very welcome. Such a fun afternoon - I will definitely be back!

My wife and I hired 2 dual suspension bikes from Planet Bike in early July, 2015 - wintertime in New Zealand. Both of us are accomplished mountain bikers with more than 20 years of riding experience, our own bikes are fairly high-end models, and thus we are quite discerning (i.e., picky!) about how a MTB should be set up and perform. And everything about their bikes was spot on: Eddie made sure the suspension was tuned properly for both of us, everything worked flawlessly, and he graciously switched out a handlebar on my wife's bike to provide a better fit. AND, he even offered to inspect/repair a front fork that was not functioning on another hire bike that I had on the campervan rack, thinking that it was my own personal bike: that is stellar customer service! These things, plus what others have mentioned - the great coffee and post-ride snacks (ginger crunch!) provided by Lenore, clear trail directions and recommendations, and just the friendliness and willingness to chat about whatever - made our experience in Rotorua just that much better.

Friendly, helpful staff, well-maintained bikes, fair rates, easily accessible with plenty of parking. We turned up out of the blue, hired the bikes quickly and were on our way bouncing through the forest in no time. We had a great day and would recommend this to anyone, no matter how little mountain biking they have done previously.

For some reason, we made a mistake and used the wrong address using goggle maps. No biggie as Lennore, really went above and beyond with directions over the phone and greeted us like VIPs on arrival. The set up was friendly and welcoming and the bikes we hired were grade A. My two boys 11 and 13 thought the ride was the highlight of the holidays. Well done guys and thank you, we'll be back next time we're in town.

We spent the morning at Planet Bike, very chilled out vibe. Lennore was super helpful with everything. Huge range of bikes, nice snacks and coffee. Highly recommend, great service. We will be back!

When the chips are down and you have crashed of your bike, Lenore & Eddie the fantastic people at Planet Bike are the the two best people available to help you with what ever you need.. Firstaid care, Ambulance, look after your gear ,keep you warm,coffees,.If it weren't for them ???

Had an oops in the Redwoods so made our way to Planet Bike....I thought that I would have to stop riding but Ed had replacement gear fitted in no time and at an excellent price. I have also previously rented a Banshee bike from them which was in great condition and rode really well. Oh, and they make blooming good coffee too!

You kindly repaired some tubeless wheels for me in Rotorua last time I was there... You recommended a specific sealant that worked better for side walls, having a similar problem with ardent on a roval.... Can you tell me what the sealant was? Also I live in Europe, Paris at the moment. And the coffee here is pretty crap ! Can you give me instructions on how to make a good roast, what mix of beans do you prefer , so i can make a deal with a local roaster to 'cook me some beans'! Wettest summer in history so far but early days. Hope all is good in the forest !

One on one guided tour of mtb trails was an awesome experience. Very knowledgeable and patient in giving invaluable tips to improve my riding style. Will definitely book again.

Head here to rent your bike to explore the forests. The people are so helpful, know bikes and tracks well and will *give* you a map (the competition will charge you $5 for the privilege). They have a coffee van, fantastic coffee. Fab bikes, set up for you. Highly recommended.

I had the pleasure to experience mountain biking in the redwoods during the 2016 Rotorua i-SITE famil thanks to these guys at planet bike! As an experienced mountain biker I rarely choose to use a guide or company but my bike was absolutely amazing as it was a brand spanking new model and felt very well looked after and my guide Harry is also worth a mention as he happily and skilfully tailored the trip to my wishes. It was the best possible way to get as much out of the bike park in a short period of time! Thanks heaps!

They provide you a gear cycle good for mounterring with a great map. The map is clear cut so no issues with tracking places in the forest. The forest is really very maintained. They have many difficulty levels of slopes. The best part is the downhill. Will surely visit again.
